ACE is the ACCESS Connect Ecosystem, an organization of partners that will unleash the potential of digital life by working with ACCESS to drive the development and adoption of new mobile converged technologies and solutions.
MontaVista Software is an Associate Member of the CE Linux
Forum (CELF). This is an industry group that is focused on
the advancement of Linux as an open source platform for consumer
electronics devices. CELF intends to operate completely within
the letter and the spirit of the open source community which
is consistent with MontaVista Software's philosophy and practices.
MontaVista Software serves on the board of Directors of Eclipse.
Eclipse is an open source community of software development
tool vendors and tool developers that has formed the core
of a community interested in collaborating to create better
development environments and product integration. The community
shares an interest in creating products that are integrated
and inter-operable in an easy to use way based upon plug-in
technology.
GENIVI Alliance is a non-profit industry association whose mission is to drive the broad adoption of an In-Vehicle Infotainment (IVI) open source development platform. GENIVI will accomplish this by aligning requirements, delivering reference implementations, offering certification programs and fostering a vibrant open source IVI community. GENIVI is headquartered in San Ramon, Calif.
MontaVista Software is an Associate member of the Intel®
Communications Alliance (ICA). The ICA is a community of communications
and embedded developers and solutions providers who share
a common vision on the convergence of computing technologies.
MontaVista joins member companies within the Alliance who
are committed to the development of modular, standards based
building blocks, platforms, and solutions based on Intel technologies,
processors, products, and services.
The IPv6 Forum is a worldwide consortium dedicated to promoting IPv6, the successor to the current version of the Internet Protocol. MontaVista Linux Carrier Grade Edition is the only carrier grade Linux certified compliant with IPv6. MontaVista Mobilinux is the only mobile Linux certified compliant with IPv6. IPv6 is important for the mobile industry because every mobile device requires its own IP address. The growing number of mobile devices is the force that is driving the Internet to move to IPv6.
The objectives of the Japan Embedded Linux Consortium are
to promote the embedded Linux industry and engage in activities
to foster expansion of the choices that users can make with
confidence. MontaVista Software serves on the board of Emblix.
The Linux Foundation is the nonprofit organization dedicated to accelerating the growth of Linux. In order to provide efficiency and consolidation across the embedded Linux ecosystem, the OSDL and FSD, or Free Standards Group consolidated to form The Linux Foundation. Later the ELC, or Embedded Linux Forum was subsumed by The Linux Foundation. MontaVista was a founding member of OSDL and ELC.
The Linux Foundation's Carrier Grade Linux Workgroup improves Linux to better meet the needs of network equipment providers and telecommunications carriers. "Carrier grade" is a term for software and hardware products that support public telecommunications and data communications networks. Carrier grade products require extremely high degrees of reliability, scalability, and performance to provide an uninterrupted flow of the enormous volume of high-bandwidth data and voice needed for today's multimedia communications. Leading network equipment providers such as NEC, Motorola, Alcatel-Lucent, and others have made MontaVista Linux Carrier Grade Edition the most widely-deployed Linux in the carrier grade market. Dan Cauchy of MontaVista is the chairman of the Carrier Grade Linux Workgroup.
Open Bar is a not-for-profit organization founded with the goals of (i) developing clear information about the legal rights and responsibilities of software developers, legal professionals and users of software in the emerging arena of open source software; and (ii) educating software developers, legal professionals and the general public about the issues, rights and responsibilities associated with the development, use and distribution of open source software. MontaVista vice president of corporate affairs and general counsel Jason Wacha is director and founder of Open Bar, and MontaVista Software is a founding sponsor.
PICMG (PCI Industrial Computer Manufacturers Group) is a
consortium of over 700 companies who collaboratively develop
specifications that adapt PCI technology for use in industrial
and telecommunications applications. PICMG specifications
include CompactPCIR for Eurocard, rackmount applications and
PCI/ISA for passive backplane, standard format cards. PICMG's
mission is to extend the PCI standard, as approved by the
PCI Special Interest Group (PCI SIG), for computer systems
such as PCI/ISA, PCI/EISA and the PCI/3U or 6U Eurocard form
factor known as CompactPCI.
The nonprofit SCOPE Alliance is an association of leading Network Equipment Providers (NEPs) with the mission of enabling and promoting the availability and interoperability of open carrier grade base platforms based on commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) building blocks. SCOPE is a program of the IEEE Industry Standards and Technology Organization (IEEE-ISTO).
The Service Availability Forum (SA Forum) is a coalition
of the world's premier communications and computing companies
working together to create and promote open, standard availability
interface specifications. Such specifications are needed to
quickly and efficiently build global communications systems
that deliver highly available voice, data and multimedia services.
MontaVista Software is a founding member of the SA Forum.
MontaVista is a valued member of the SH-Mobile Consortium
membership. This consortium comprises of LSI, IP providers,
system integrators, and software providers, all collaborating
to create a unique mobile phone solution. The aim of consortium
is to provide support for hardware, software, and mobile phone
terminal developers, to support the growing SH-Mobile ecosystem.
MontaVista Software is a Board member of the The T-Engine
Forum. This forum has been established to offer a standard
real-time system development platform for constructing a ubiquitous
computing environment. T-Engine is a new standardized development
platform into which the eTRON architecture has been installed.
The eTRON architecture enables the secure transfer of information
and rights through insecure network channels such as the Internet.
The T-Engine Forum has been established to research and develop
the T-Engine specification.
