MontaVista® Linux® Technical Support
MontaVista Technical Support provides MontaVista customers with a complete range of technical engineering support for each of MontaVista's Linux products. MontaVista technical support Consultant Engineers are highly qualified Linux engineers, with hundreds of years of combined experience in RTOS development, implementation, and support. MontaVista provides both email and telephone based support.
MontaVista maintenance and support covers MontaVista Linux edition components including the kernel, cross compilers, debuggers, host and target applications, and configuration, development and debugging tools. Additional information on specific features supported is available on MontaVista Zone.
Support Levels Tailored to Individual Teams' Needs
In its Core Support offerings, MontaVista provides multiple tiers of technical support, designed to meet the individual needs of customers' development teams. Each tier provides both email and telephone based support to one or more named contacts in the license holder organization. Specific offerings in each tier include:

- Account Manager Service (AMS)
- Shared Engineering Service (SES)
- Dedicated Engineering Service (DES)
MontaVista Zone
MontaVista Zone is an online support site available exclusively to all current valid subscribers in licensed Product Subscription customer development organizations. Unlike direct access to support consultants, access to the MontaVista Zone is not limited to named account holders.
The MontaVista Zone provides 24x7 access to:
- Downloads for the latest software releases, updates, and upgrades
- Online documentation
- Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
- Interactive online tutorials
- Open and closed known problem reports (with the resolution for each closed problem report)
- RSS feed for notification for all patches/updates
- Proactive security monitoring and patch distribution
- Detailed list of all hosts and targets supported, by architecture.
- Detailed information that covers:

- Application Development
- Integration/Deployment
- "Tip of the month"
Extended Support
Customers who require support beyond the end of life of Core Support can sign up for Extended Support. Extended Support is designed for the needs of development teams in industries such as Telecommunications, Transportation, Aerospace, and Defense, where it is not uncommon to find embedded equipment with fielded lifetimes of 5 years or even more. Customers covered by Extended Support receive critical and security bug fixes for a fixed version of the MontaVista Linux kernel, OS platform, and development tools, and Extended Support packages are renewable annually or on a fixed term basis.
