MontaVista Joins OpenSAF™ to Contribute to the Development of Next Generation
High Availability Middleware

The first vendor to bundle OpenSAF in a carrier grade Linux deepens their commitment to the OpenSAF Foundation and community

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - November 17, 2010 - MontaVista® Software, LLC, a leader in embedded Linux® commercialization, announced today it has become a member of the OpenSAF™ Foundation to help drive the development of OpenSAF, the leading, next generation, high availability middleware. Consistent with SA Forum™ specifications, OpenSAF is rapidly being adopted by major vendors in the network infrastructure market, as well as other vertical markets.

As a recognized leader in the market, MontaVista was the first vendor to provide OpenSAF code in a commercial Linux product in 2009 with OpenSAF 3.0. Last month, MontaVista announced MontaVista Linux Carrier Grade Edition 6.0 which bundles OpenSAF 4.0 open source code, the latest version of the high availability middleware. High availability applications and services are key to mission-critical operations in industries such as telecommunications, industrial automation, and other market segments.

MontaVista has been a constant innovator in the the embedded Linux market in areas such as real-time, high availability and serviceability, and most recently virtualization. As a contributor in the OpenSAF project, MontaVista will bring their long history and experience in the embedded market, contributing back to the community, and working with partner and other community members, including GoAhead, to further the development of OpenSAF.
