MontaVista Linux optimized for ATI’s XILLEON
London, United Kingdom – May 20, 2003 – MontaVista Software, the company powering the embedded revolution, announced today that MontaVista® Linux® Professional Edition will support ATI’s XILLEON™ integrated SoC. OEMs of set-top boxes, digital TVs (DTVs), and other consumer electronics devices will benefit from this integrated cost-effective solution. The joint solution will be demonstrated at Mediacast 2003 at ExCel, London, UK from May 20 to 22, 2003.
ATI’s XILLEON integrates into a single chip all processor, graphics, video, audio, and I/O (input and output) capabilities needed in a set-top box or digital TV. Features include a 300 MHz MIPS® CPU (central processing unit), dual-SD (standard definition) and dual-HD (high definition) capable MPEG-2 decoder, audio decoder, dual display engine, 2D and 3D graphics engine, conditional access, transport demultiplexers, PCI (Peripheral Component Interconnect), USB (universal serial bus), and hard disk drive interfaces.
MontaVista Linux Professional Edition is the industry-leading embedded Linux operating system and cross development environment. It provides a common source and binary platform across a broad range of processor architectures. The Professional Edition includes a modern OS featuring real-time functionality, multi-process and multi-threaded with extensive bundled software components including rich networking.

Availability
MontaVista Linux Professional Edition for ATI XILLEON will be available from MontaVista Software and the company’s sales and distribution channels worldwide by the end of the second quarter of 2003. It is offered as a product subscription, providing customers with the MontaVista Linux kernel, utilities, development tools, software updates, deployment components, access to the MontaVista Zone, comprehensive technical support and hands-on Linux training classes. ATI XILLEON platforms are available from ATI today.
